2012Feb13 â Creativity in Teaching and Values in Education - Academic Staff College, JNTU, Hyderabad.
Creativity in Teaching and Values in Education were the two topics for one of the sessions in the Orientation Course, sponsored by the University Grants Commission and organized by UGC-Academic Staff College, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. I have already delivered a presentation titled Becoming a Better Teacher to this group of participants.
The purpose of inclusion of these topics seems to be to motivate the teachers to teach with greater commitment. Creativity makes all the difference to everyone involved. Teachers need it all the more â to inspire generations of students. Values are needed in every walk of life and it is necessary that teachers must themselves follow and also preach so that the students can consider the teachers as their Role Models and mould themselves to be positive and contributing citizens, peace loving and value oriented persons.
Teachers must be motivated to become better teachers, continuously, without which the quality of education cannot be improved. When the teachers realize the important role they are playing, it is hoped that they would raise to the occasion and add love to the responsible job they are doing, and create the necessary impact. They must be inspired to become more creative. They themselves must be aware of the study skills â not only to motivate their students, but also to remind themselves of the things they might have missed; further, they must become aware of the important role of values in education, and the need for the teachers to assume some responsibility in this regard.
Two different presentations were used for the lecture.
It is better to view this power point presentations while listening to the downloaded lectures.
Keeping in view, the nature of the topic and a particular point to be stressed, Telugu / Hindi were also used, besides English.
The live recording of the speech can be listened to / downloaded, by visiting www.archive.org and searching for Prof. V. Viswanadham. Further, if the displayed results are sorted by date added, it would be easier to locate this particular speech. The power point presentation can be viewed at www.scribd.com (please search for Viswam.vangapally4581), and / or www.slideshare.net/viswanadham.
It was brought to the notice of the participants that 7 booklets, 2 in English and 5 in Telugu - all Poolabata Publications â are freely available. Please visit: www.archive.org and search for POOLABATA. You can also search for DESHAMUNU PREMINCHUMANNA, and freely get a booklet in Telugu.
There are many other speeches on the same and related topics, along with power point presentations, and all these can be freely listened to / viewed at the sites referred above. You would definitely find some variety and difference in the presentation â as I consider it my duty to make the presentations in a different manner, each time the topic is discussed. This is only to assure you that you can take the risk of listening to the lectures on the same topic given to different audiences, at different places.
